Our annual walks and events plus details of coach pick up times

Walks 2020

Walks for the rest of the year will be published as soon as restrictions on social gatherings are lifted.

What to wear

Participants should equip themselves with suitable, robust, comfortable walking boots (essential), an efficient waterproof jacket, outdoor trousers, fleece jacket, hat & gloves, rucksack and a change of clothing on very wet days.  As our programme covers all seasons we recommend suitable clothing for a full day out in the country and to be prepared for all weathers.  A walking pole is useful, but not essential. Denim jeans are not recommended as they give no warmth when wet and they tend to cling to the skin and can cause chaffing which can be very uncomfortable when walking.

Coach pick up times

A coach is usually arranged to transport the party on the outward and again on the inward journey with convenient pick-up points.  Smoking is not allowed on the coach and seat belts must be worn during the entire journey.  Very occasionally private cars are used if the coach is overbooked.

Victoria Hospital 08.15

Poulton  -  Garstang Road East bus stop (nr Hardhorn Road) 08.30 River Wyre Hotel 08.45

Churchtown or Greenhalgh 09.00

We aim to start back for home when the light fades, around 4.30 p.m. in winter and up to 6.00 p.m. in summer dependent on the walks and weather.  This is finalised on the day.

Cancellations

It is important to notify the Booking Secretary by  Wednesday before the walk if you wish to cancel.  It is regretted that cancellations after this, or failure to turn up on the day, will incur forfeiture of the fare.

Monthly coach fare

This is currently £12.00 for all, payable one month in advance to secure a seat.  Payment preferably by cheque made payable to Fylde rotary ramblers, and this will be collected by our Booking Secretary as you board the coach.  Guests are very welcome, but Club members must take priority when making a booking for a walk. Guests can attend 3 walks at £12.00 per walk before they have to join.

Insurance / Health & safety

The Club has two insurance policies.  There is a public liability policy to cover loss, injury or damage to third parties or their property.  A second policy provides personal accident insurance for Club members.  For those under 16 or over 70 years of age, the benefits are limited.  For further details about either policy, please contact the Club Treasurer.
